I thought that what would be a more suitable way to start the year 2020 than introduce another, fresh collage talent. Now introduced Charlotte Eloise, Brazil-based artist, sent me an Instagram DM about how I should feature one other artist on Toombes but I liked her works so here we are…
She started to do collages in the middle of 2018, first by doing digital pieces with her phone app and then moved to craft these beautiful artworks by hand. She told me that she has always been interested in the old books and photographs so what would be a better way to manifest the interest than transform the beloved collection items into art-works. She admits that she was very anxious about and got stuck for months with the whole analog creative process… Every collage artist who makes them by hand knows how hard the first cuts can be. But I’m happy that she continued to clip because I really like her minimalistic analog approach. She has a pleasant eye and style to use only a few pieces to craft a functional entity – it’s always so great to see artists who keep their game clear.
She hasn’t showcased her works anywhere, but I think that is going to change if she keeps up doing what she has started…
