Now introduced Diane Meyer lives and works in Los Angeles, California. I’ve come across her works a few times and they each time make me somehow smile. Her works are an amazing mixture of fine art photography with hand-sewn embroidery. II like the simple and clever idea. In her hands, regular photographs, family snapshots, landscapes, and urban photos turn into pure embroidered pixel magic. Basically she takes a photo and embroiders selected areas from it by mimicking the original colors, shapes, structure and creates a certain kind of effect of the illusion of censorship or anonymity. Pure brilliance if I may say.
She is currently represented by Klompching Gallery. During her artistic career, she has showcased her beautiful works in several group and solo exhibitions, both in the US and internationally. Her work has also been featured in numerous print and online magazines, and she has received several awards and accolades.
