Helen Kitson, living and working in Worcester, England, is a self-taught collage artist who draws inspiration from the artistic creations of Kurt Schwitters and Joseph Cornell. In 2018, she decided to temporarily step away from her paid employment to pursue a Master’s degree in Art History. During this academic journey, her studies emphasized the significance of looking beyond and over the established art historical norms and the conventional definition of “art” and “artists”. This experience reawakened her long-suppressed passion for creating art.

Her mesmerizing collage work primarily revolves around juxtaposing elements from the past and present, as well as uncovering the narratives concealed within fragments of old paper and other ephemeral materials. Helen prefers to work on a small scale, utilizing discarded remnants of everyday life and incorporating naturally occurring objects she discovers.
