Quick hello The Scissorhands, can you tell a bit about yourself?
My name is Claudia, aka The Scissorhands. I work as a freelance illustrator and collage artist.
In addition to my artistic work I do commissioned work, anything from magazines and books to album covers and advertising. I live and work in Munich.
What are you doing/working on at this moment?
I am currently preparing a collage workshop that I will be giving next month as a guest lecturer for students at the Kunsthochschule Kassel, which really excites me.
What inspires you the most at this moment?
I found a book about Art Nouveau in a box on the street that was being given away. I am now totally flashed by the beauty and diversity of this modern yet minimalist art movement – ornamental, surreal, almost psychedelic, from art to architecture and furniture.
What’s your favorite personal work at this moment?
I am my harshest critic and am always weeding out works. I don´t have one particular favourite, but there are some works that are of special importance to me, either because they mark a milestone in my artistic development or because I am emotionally attached to them.
An all-time favourite is the collage “Bonn”, out of the 1985 series.
Any future plans/happenings you want to share?
I am currently learning to let go, to become more flexible, to be more in the present moment.
I want to travel more again, meet like-minded people and other artists, and ideally combine that with my work.
