Introducing the Dutch visual artist Debora van der Vliet. Living and working poetically “among the forests” of Doorwerth where she draws inspiration from the ever-changing light and seasonal colors. With a bachelor’s degree in Media Arts, she captures the essence of movement and energy of life in her two-dimensional creations.
Debora’s work incorporates various materials to craft a painterly and cinematic universe where form and formlessness intertwine. Her art speaks to those who feel that perceived boundaries are illusions and that everything is interconnected — like a river winding through diverse landscapes, yet ultimately forming a unified whole. She said that in the 1950s, Debora would have eagerly joined the circle of female abstract expressionists, drawing inspiration from artists like Helen Frankenthaler and Joan Mitchell.
