The Seshen – Colors Collide
Few days ago I came cross this music video by San Francisco Bay Area-based The Seshen. This was released in 2017 but who cares I really like the visual output.
The video is directed by animator and collage artist Jesse Cafiero. In this video he used traditional stop motion techniques with hand-cut cutouts from vintage old magazines and books to give the song a song beautifully surreal story. I love how the outcome is very beautiful yet not too polished, you can see the ruff cutting and torned edges. And I read that when planning the video the band wanted to create something that feels like both old and new, so this fuzzy multilayered song matched with the stop motion collage video is the perfect thing.
The song “Colors Collide” is taken from their 2017 album ”Flames & Figures”.
