Contemporary artist Valerie Savchits was born to a Russian-speaking family near the Baltic Sea in Latvia in 1993. After graduating from the University of Salford in 2016 with a degree in Visual Arts, she is now working and living in London, England. Guided by the dada, trans avant-garde and neo-expressionist movements, she highlights the turbulence in her paintings by intentionally adding mistakes and imperfections – and the outcome is vibrant series of works that explores curiously around the ideas of identity and reversed aesthetics as well as the issues and struggles of the post-soviet generation.
Savchits exhibits her works nationally and internationally in various group and solo show and has been shortlisted for The Jackson’s Art Prize 2016. She has been published in several art magazines such as The Skulls Co. and Aesthete Magazine.
